It is characterised by primarily  residential development built during the 1950’s and 1960’s, together  with more recent housing development and neighbourhood uses  along Princes Road. Chelmsford College, Moulsham Infant and Junior  Schools and Moulsham Secondary School are also located within the  ward. The John Shennan Playing Field is the largest open space  within the area.
