To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Chelmsford and the Neighbourhood
2nd Feb 2010
The committee managed to secure a meeting with Sarah Candy's office at Essex County Council on the 2nd
Feb, at that meeting we presented our objectives for the community centre and discussed the way forward.
There was a bit of a stale mate, but we agreed that we could not continue any further discussions until ECC
had fully evaluated the site in terms of financial viability AND (Moulsham Lodge Community Association
(MLCA) had independently commissioned a full structural survey, although MLCA could not do this until a
grant had been approved via the Community Initiative Fund (CIF)
We believe this CIF grant has been verbally approved and as soon as it has and we have the money, the
survey will take place.
24th May 2010
The committee met with Carole Reilly who is Regional Development Manager East of England working
for the Development Trusts Association (DTA)
Carol on behalf of the DTA, is giving us expert advice and support in order that we can maximise our
business plan and progress towards our main goal of getting the community centre up and running again.
On the advice of the DTA we will now be applying to become a Company Limited by Guarantee (what's this)
and once we have £5000 in the bank we can apply for charitable status.
All in all things look positive, we know things are moving slowly but we knew they would, so please please
be patient.
Also, we will be holding an AGM in the near future so please watch out for the date.
